Cycling around Tokyo

July 05, 2020

I took my bicycle out last Saturday for a ride and I had the best time! I have been thinking of taking photos near Tokyo Tower for a long time, but I did not have time, and let's not forget about coronavirus, so I never went. That changed yesterday because I finally went!

I didn't want to take the train because it will be crowded (CORONAVIRUS ALERT) so I cycled there. BUT I didn't know it was gonna be that far. (Joke's on me!) I won't admit that I underestimated the distance!

The way there was fun, although hot, and humid, I was happy. I saw a lot of things, and places that were new to me, and I also discovered some interesting buildings like this Mexican furniture shop.

The most difficult part of cycling around the city was cycling uphill. MY KNEES! My bicycle is just a normal bicycle without gears, so I had to do my VERY BEST to cycle uphill. My knees were burning and I thought I would faint! Every move was painful! However, just like the saying "Everything that goes up, goes down.", I eventually had to go downhill, AND OMG THAT WAS GOOD. I didn't have to do anything, and my knees were happy.

I was using Google Maps but around 3/4 of the way, I couldn't make it work so I stopped using it and just relied on road signs. It was not hard to find Tokyo Tower because duh, it's so red and huge.
After circling around, and getting lost for 15 minutes, I gave up, illegally parked my bicycle where the Japanese illegally park theirs and walked around before the rain started to pour. I found a good place to photograph the Tokyo Tower so I took some shots.

When the rain stopped, I cycled back home. When I arrived home, I showered, ate, and slept. My body is painful, but I'm glad I did the cycle. I'm saying I won't do this again but we will see.
