My Six Week AIESEC Internship in Tokyo
March 04, 2017
My internship in a company in Tokyo called Future Design Lab has come to an end. I would be lying if I say that the road to the end of it was not rough but all fun and enjoyment because the road to the end was rocky, bumpy and dangerous. Well, not really dangerous but yeah, you know what I mean. I would also be lying if I say that I did not, in any way, enjoy or had fun during the whole internship because at some point of it, I actually had fun. Or shall I say the masochist caterpillar in me has transformed into a butterfly and flew all the way up. To put it in words understandable by human beings, there was a point when I actually enjoyed the stress of my work and all the crap that was happening to me. It ended so quickly by the way.
Anyway, I would like to share some of the highlights of my internship in Tokyo.
1. Home Stay with Emi-chan
Emi-chan kept me alive. I will be long dead if not because of her. She is the reason why I was so excited to go home every day and why I was not stressed at home. I played with her, babysat her , made her cry, scared her with my Sadako hair and face and did all the fun things with her. Although there was a time when she started hating me and started saying she hates me, I still love her very much. I want to take her home to my country.
When I first came in she was so silent and she would not even talk. Her Nihongo was all over the place and she was super super cute. Although she is still super cute now, she grew a lot in the past month. She talked more and she got a lot smarter. Her Nihongo is also better than me, Ouch.
I really enjoy alone time. So whenever I have time, I usually go around Tokyo to visit some places. I usually just end up getting lost and spending much time in the train stations rather than outside though. During these solo trips, I have reflected on and discovered so much things. (I did not find myself OK. Travelling won't make you find yourself. Seriously)

The homestay with Emi and her mother was really a fun experience. Not only were they very accommodating, they were also very kind. I am very thankful to them for accepting me and treating me as one of the members of their family.

3. My AIESEC Family
My AIESEC family was really really the best. they made sure I feel commfortable and everything was right for me during the whole internhip. Even with their busy schedules, they really found time to make the best internship for me.

4. My Future Design Lab Experiencce
I spent most of time in the office of Future Design Lab because my internship happened there. I did a lot of thinngs but the major task I had was to gather students who will join in the events of Future Design Lab. I had a hard time at the beginning of the internship because my Japanese level is not very good. I could not understand many things and I had a hard time adjusting. Bt after a hile, I was able to cope up and adjust and at the end of it, I learned a lot of things.

5. Train Rides around Tokyo
The train rides I had in Tokyo were little adventures. Every single ride is a battle between oxygen and carbon dioxide. Trains are little concentration camps and they kill you slowly, I kennot. There was this one time when the train was rocking along the curves like crazy but I did not have to bother to hold on to the rails because the people beside me, (I was sandwiched between two old men) were helping me (unconsciously) hold my place.
6. Getting Lost around Tokyo
For a person who has no sense of direction like me, going to the right direction is actually so hard. Even if I only have to go to a place very near my accomodation, I would find myself in a place completely alien in 5 minutes I kennot. However, even though I was lost most of the time, I enjoyed it. I was able to discover thigs and go to places new.
So those are some of the highlights of my internship. There are more but this post is getting long. HAHA. Bye.
